Taiwanese media website United Daily News is reporting that mass production of Apple's latest generation iPhone will begin this week. Manufacturing companies Foxconn and Pegatron Corp are said to be hiring more than 100,000 workers to meet demands for the new smartphone. Foxconn will also be deploying 10,000 assembly robots known as Foxbots to help with manufacturing tasks.
United Daily News reports that manufacturing for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will start during the third week of July, while production for the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 phablet will begin on the second week of August.
Earlier this month Chinese media sources claimed that the release date for the iPhone 6 will be in late September. So, according to the rumors, we could see the iPhone 6 release sometime between September 19 and September 25, 2014. It is currently not clear if the 4.7-inch and the 5.5-inch versions of the iPhone 6 will release at the same time, or if we will see the 4.7-inch smartphone release first, with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 following later.
